Who is LEEASA?

LEEASA is a Non-Profit Voluntary Association validated by ECSA for the purpose of ECSA Registered members to belong to. This allows them to claim a CPD point for being a personal member.

Anybody can join LEEASA, there is a cost and the forms found by clicking on “INSERT LINK” need to be completed and sent to our admin department to review and process.

Other than the above CPD point and becoming a personal member of the Lifting Engineering group, the list is endless. See the brochure by clicking under …… for more information.

If you are either a personal or company member, it could take none of your time, this is a choice. Should you want to become more actively involved by participating, joining groups or becoming a director in time to come, you will have to invest some time in the endeavor. The choice is yours.

LEEASA offer CPD and other training. There is a conference or more than one each year in some locations to come and spend time with the other members. Most of the events are paid events but are offered at very affordable prices. Watch the mails and social media.

We are busy rolling out a few of these, the monthly safety bulletin is rolling well and has been for almost a year. This can be used for your safety meetings or toolbox talks. A ongoing update of SABS technical meetings will soon be distributed monthly or as these events take place. When LEEASA have meetings with DoEL and ECSA or other role players, a short summary bulletin will be sent out to all members.

At the end of 2025 with the new LEEASA growth plan, this was approved and will start rolling out in 2026. There are many other active role-playing associations that LEEASA will take hands with to improve communication and upliftment of the members.

LEEASA started in 2003 and is still active. Many faces have been around, and many changes have been made over the years to improve the product offering of the association.

LEEASA is run by a team of volunteers members, which make up the LEEASA board of Directors, that are elected by the members to leadership.

 

These individuals are confident and highly motivated self driving individuals that collaborate in order to grow the association and preserve the dignity of the profession. There needs to be a strong separation between ones personal company and the association. Directors should not be seen as acting in their own interests, but rather acting in the best interests of the industry as a whole.

 

 LEEASA directors need to have a strong technical ability, as well as a great mind for business development and entrepreneurship. LEEASA directors are not remunerated and participate in the association out of love for the industry.

 

LEEASA directors are required to give up time in their work day to actively participate in LEEASA initiatives, which includes but is not limited to seminars, technical content development, SABS and The Department of Employment and Labour collaborations, events and much more.  

 

Over the years the roles of a LEEASA director has changed a lot. This shift has shifted from purely being a technical aspect of the association, however the need to grow and generate further revenue to give back to our members.

 

This has included the development of new measurement instruments, The LEEASA Inspection App and development of further membership tiers within the association.
